7 things

God's Word says there are seven things which God hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

1. a proud look (pride is the main factor that drives us to disobedience and rebellion)
2. a lying tongue (He is truth)
3. hands that shed innocent blood (you shall not murder)
4. a heart that devises wicked plans (the mind is the source of sin)
5. feet that are swift in running to evil (sinners are not content just to walk)
6. a false witness who speaks lies (we need to guard our tongue)
7. one who sows discord among brethren (avoid those who cause divisions)

Gifts

Church was AWESOME today!! It just keeps getting better and better! I go to a Spirit-filled church, that is keeping it real! During praise and worship people come up to the microphone in between songs and testify and it is wonderful! And this week lots of people came up because God is good and they are testifying! I love to praise God and I love to hear people tell of His goodness, and I love that our pastor and others prophesy and give words of knowledge! If you aren't going to a Spirit-filled church with the gifts flowing, you are missing out!

Word

Faith comes through hearing the word of God. You're not growing in faith if you're not reading God's word. As a matter of fact, you're going backwards if you're not reading God's word. You're either advancing or retreating, but you're never staying in the same place. God's word says in John 1:1, "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Victory

This is very valuable information for those that seek victory in Jesus. Start praising Him and your victory will happen. Even when you can't see it yet, start praising Him. Praise in advance of seeing what you're asking for. God will see your faith, and grant your request. Try it.

Covet

As the economy worsens, it's easy to slip into coveting what others have, even my good friends and family. I've got to keep my eye on the prize, heaven. Some day all of this will be gone, and all that will be left is what we've done for God. "Only one life will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last." Yes, money doesn't bring happiness but it CAN make you VERY comfortable, and most of us want that! But Jesus brings us the peace that passes all understanding, which most rich people would pay anything for.

The Bible says we cannot serve God AND mammon (money.)

Chips

One of the most important lessons I'm teaching my children is, do the right thing always and let the chips fall where they will. This may seem like common sense, but you'd be surprised at how many let the ends justify the means, which is a little trick of the enemy. You know, the 'white' lies, for instance. Well, no matter what 'color' the lie is, it's still a lie. Or if you're at work, and you're co-worker is really hateful to you. You may want to do otherwise, but continue to take the high road. Several of my youngest child's friend's parents have been very rude to us since we are church goers. But I continued treating them nicely, and they have come to respect me and say nice things now. I'm not the one they will call to go out for a drink, but I am the one they will call when they need prayer...

Love

God is love. God wants intimacy with us. He wants a relationship with us. He wants to spend time with us. He is jealous of our love, our time, our affections when we ignore Him.
As I've thought about the way he created man and woman and marriage, I think He did this so that we could have a foretaste of love. He could have created us all the same - no man and no woman. But He didn't. I think He wanted us to know the special, close relationship of love and then marriage. And then, the fact that their love creates a procreation, a child, then it shows us a parent's love as He is our Father. We can appreciate more the fact that He sent His one and only Son to come to earth and suffer as He took our punishment.
Our God is an awesome God.

Closer

The birth pangs are getting closer and closer together. This earth is in labor. It's crying for Jesus to come back. Can you feel it? Even the non-believers sense something.

Are you ready?

Body

The Bible says, if we are His children, then our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. If you haven't ever thought about that, take time to do so. We cannot just eat junk food non-stop without consequences. We need to be mindful of the bodies that God gave us and take care of them.

And then, realize that since God is a Spirit, He has to use His children to do the physical things here on planet earth. He has to use our hands to heal through, our eyes to smile through, our lips to speak through. We are His vessels. We 'house' the Holy Spirit, as His children.

Think

Here's a thought.... There are lots of people saying that the earth will end in 2012. You and I don't really know because only God really knows when it will be. But the interesting question is, are you ready? What if Jesus is coming back in 2012? We're within 2 months of 2011. So if Jesus comes back on January 1st, 2012, we only have 14 months until that day. What will you do until then, if in fact, He comes back that day? Will you work for the Lord, and tell as many of your friends about Him, because after 1-1-12, it will be too late? I mean seriously, THINK about it. If we REALLY knew when He was coming back, we would be getting ready. We wouldn't be investing our money in retirement. We wouldn't be stressed out about a promotion at our job. We wouldn't be setting aside a college fund for our children. We would be getting ready.

Think about it....

Praise Him

Church was awesome today; our praise and worship keeps getting better and better. An update about the 3 year old boy, Luke, that I (and others) were praying for this week. He started having seizures out of nowhere and was rushed by ambulance to the closest city's children's hospital. We all know that seizures are a sign of very scary things like a brain tumor and epilepsy, to name a few. But he was tested for all of those things and got the all clear. They then realized that he has an infection that went to his brain. After MUCH prayer, Luke had a breakthrough, after his dad and our pastor had a prayer session, and he hasn't had a seizure since then. We are still praying.

Pastor and his daughter-in-law noticed that the devil was attacking the first born's in our church family, and 5 people in our small church were in the hospital this week. I've always heard that satan attacks the people who are going to do the most for God, or, like the mafia, he attacks their family members. But we are not accepting ANY of THAT!
The Bible says that the devil flees when we are praising God, so we're praising non-stop!
Praise God!

The goal

I'm going to follow Jesus, even if no one else does. I'm going to do what He wants me to do, even if no one is with me. We come into this world alone and we leave it alone. It's really just the person and God. We have to work out our own salvation. No one else can do it for us. No one rides the coat tails of someone else into heaven, they make their own decisions. I made mine years ago, and I will endure. It's the only thing that makes sense of this world. God never said it would be easy, but He said He would be with His children. And that if we endure, we WILL ulitimately go to our reward.

Gay

Is it OK to be Gay and Christian?
Wednesday, 03 November 2010 10:42 AM EDT J. Lee Grady Newsletters - Fire In My Bones

Charismatic pastor Jim Swilley’s announcement that he is gay opened the door wider for a subtle delusion. Don’t believe it.

Many people were shell-shocked last week when Atlanta pastor Jim Swilley stood in front of his congregation, Church in the Now in Conyers, Ga., and announced that he is gay. The 52-year-old minister was abruptly removed from his position in the International Communion of Charismatic Churches—a network in which he served as an overseer. Some of Swilley’s members left his church, others stayed, and countless others are now scratching their heads.

We Americans are lost in a moral fog. Two major Protestant denominations (the Episcopal Church USA and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) have voted to ordain gay clergy. Meanwhile, gayness is celebrated in our media, and anyone who refuses to bow to this idol is painted as intolerant and homophobic.

“The sins we avoid addressing from the pulpit are the sins that will thrive unchallenged in our culture. We must develop some backbone and speak the truth in love.”

Christians who still believe homosexuality is incompatible with biblical faith feel painted into a corner. If we defend Christian morality, and even if we speak with compassion to those who may struggle with same-sex attraction, we are accused of hate speech or branded as judgmental. So we tiptoe through the minefield of political correctness—and keep our mouths shut.

Sorry, but timidity on this issue is not acceptable. The sins we avoid addressing from the pulpit are the sins that will thrive unchallenged in our culture. We must develop some backbone and speak the truth in love. Here are four truths that should factor into any discussion on this topic:

1. Everyone is born with issues. King David wrote: “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me” (Psalm 51:5, NASB). David acknowledged that he had an inborn sin nature. This is true for all of us!

Many “gay Christian” advocates insist that some people are born homosexuals and therefore they have no hope of altering their orientation. But this is a lame argument since we all are born with a propensity toward certain sins. This is the human condition: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). Just because you are born with an inclination toward adultery, alcoholism, shoplifting or pride doesn’t mean you have to stay that way.

2. Christ offers forgiveness and sexual healing. The more strident voices in the gay community hate when Christians speak about homosexuals being healed or reformed. They insist that if you are gay, you must stay that way. They choose to ignore the fact that thousands of people have left homosexuality after coming to faith in Christ.

My friend Alan Chambers, president of Exodus International, came out of the gay lifestyle many years ago and now has a great marriage with his wife, Leslie, plus two beautiful children. The ministry he leads has helped countless people—including many Christian “strugglers”—find emotional freedom. Some of them experienced same-sex feelings from childhood; others developed these feelings because they were sexually molested or because of dysfunction in their families.

Whatever the cause of sexual brokenness, the gospel has always provided the solution. It was true for people in the Corinthian church, to whom Paul wrote: “Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals … will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God” (1 Cor. 6:9-11, emphasis added).

3. Discipleship requires self-denial. In his announcement to his church last week, Jim Swilley said he decided to come out as gay because he was tired of pretending. I’ve talked with others who told me they felt they were being “dishonest” by ignoring their gay feelings. They said they felt free when they accepted “who they really are” and got involved in gay relationships.

For a Christian, that’s a cop out. The essence of our walk with Christ involves denial. Jesus said: “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me” (Matt. 16:24). Jesus was not asking us to pretend we don’t have problems—He calls us to bring all of those problems into His light through repentance. But the Holy Spirit gives us the power to deny sinful desires. That quality of self-control is a fruit of the Spirit (see Gal. 5:22-23).

4. Homosexuality is not a protected category of sin. Many “gay Christian” advocates insist that if you are gay, then it’s fine to go out and have all the sex you want. They ignore biblical commandments against homosexuality (usually by saying that Old Testament law doesn’t apply today); meanwhile they advocate gay marriage even though most gay men are rarely monogamous. The message is clear: If you have same-sex desires, just go ahead and indulge because that’s how you were created.

This is what the Bible calls licentiousness—which means “lacking legal or moral restraints, especially sexual restraints; disregarding rules.” Actually, the Bible lumps homosexuality in with every other form of sexual sin—and says God will punish those who engage in it. After Paul warns about every form of immorality, he says: “So, he who rejects [these rules] is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you” (1 Thess. 4:8).

Regardless of how loudly the world trumpets its hedonistic agenda—and no matter how many backslidden preachers dance to the tune—God has the final say on this matter.

Right now

I am noticing the enemy attacking the most on fire Christians at my church. Today one of our church pillar's son starting having seizures and was rushed by ambulance to the nearest city's children's hospital. Well I've got news for you, satan... You cannot have this little boy! He is covered with the BLOOD OF JESUS! He is surrounded by lots and lots of God's angels for protection. And, since this 3 year old is in the family of God's child, He WILL BE HEALED!! God's Word says that WHATEVER we ask in the NAME OF JESUS, God will do. It is also written, "The seed of the righteous SHALL be delivered." And, "I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring, and My blessing on your descendants." You leave him alone, satan!! It is written, "By the stripes of Jesus we WERE healed." and "They shall lay hands on the sick, and they SHALL recover."

Thank you, God, that RIGHT NOW you are healing Luke - in Jesus' name.

Burden

It looks as though God has heard the prayers of His children. We yearn to get America back to where it was years ago. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says that God will heal our land if His children pray and earnestly ask. It's time we stand up to evil. We have to say something. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." We've got to fight. Jesus did not tell us to go and wait for Him while we did nothing; no He said to be working for Him until He comes back. We've got to keep telling people about how Jesus saves... not only for eternity, but also for a more abundant life here on earth. So many are lost. They have no peace. They are just wandering around looking for meaning for their lives. We've got the answer; we've got to tell them. We've got to care more. We've got to ask God to give us a bigger burden for the lost. It's our ultimate purpose.

Best

We're all too busy here in America. Jesus wants our time. He wants the best of our time, and not the five minutes before we go to bed, or when we're so sleepy in the morning, that we don't even remember. It's like tithing in the Old Testament. It was the FIRST fruits, not the last of the barrel. It was the best animals for sacrificing, not the defected ones. God wants our best. He deserves our best. He's the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He's the Creator of the Universe. He died on the cross for our sins when we didn't deserve it. He took our punishment for us. He deserves our best.
